Siliguri Samarpan Welfare Society

This Ngo in Siliguri is working for the underprivileged sections of society for health, environmental issues, unemployment, basic education and rehabilitation treatment in Siliguri. It aims to provide intensive therapies for a number of mental disorders like Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, mental retardation as well as physical disabilities. Prerana in Siliguri

This is an NGO for disabled children from the underprivileged sections of society. Situated in Siliguri, Prerana provides food, shelter and training to all types of disabled people. Adult women are trained in handiwork such as making bags, garments. The organization was established by Capt. Jayanta Sengupta along with his wife, which is also known as the North Bengal Council for the Disabled. It was established in the year 1990. This education and rehabilitation organization has about 128 children of various disabilities like hearing, visual and speech impairment, cerebral palsy, autism and orthopaedic handicapped under its care. Prerana provides services like tuitions, food, school buses and uniforms and provide learning materials free of cost to these children from underprivileged families.

Siliguri Subhaspally Welfare Organization

This society is based in Siliguri opposite Subhaspally market, and has fulfilled a number of projects for the welfare of the common people in the region. It organizes health awareness camps for the underprivileged sections of society, runs a diabetic clinic on the last Sunday of each month, promotes awareness on the importance of hygiene and portable drinking water in the rural areas, organizes eye testing camps as well as arranges low cost ECG testing to protect heart diseases. Besides the society also arranges various vocational training courses to make the people in the region self-sufficient and improve the local economy. Some of its other activities include organizing art and craft classes for poor children and creating a separate cell dealing with RTI to help eradicate general ignorance about political and social injustices.

Siliguri Green Environment Preservation Society

This welfare society is concerned with protecting the environment and ecology around Siliguri by organizing workshops on raising environmental preservation amongst children, family and society in general. Some of its activities include organizing workshops to control pollution, devising “green” techniques, surveying and raising caution about the deteriorating ecology around the wetland of Fulbari Mahananda Barrage situated at the junction of Teesta canal and Mahananda River, restricting carry bag use and providing a nature friendly environment for all.
